He was born in Bombay, India August 7, 1831, second son of Rev. C. J. Farrar, Vicar of Sidcup, and of Caroline, daughter of C. Turner of Aylesbury.

Studied at the King Williams College, Castletown in the Isle of Man

1847 King's College London

1851 he is 19 years old, and studying at Trinity College Cambridge

Was Assistant Master at Harrow from 1855-1870

August 1, 1860, Marries Lucy Mary Carden in St. Thomas, Devon. She is the youngest daughter of Frederick Carden, Esq. of the Indian Civil Service.

In 1861, he is living at 35 Marine Parade, Eastbourne, Sussex with wife Lucy and his sister in law Ruth E. Carden (Fundholder). He is noted as Clergyman without care of souls.

Elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1864

Headmaster of Marlborough College from 1871-1876

In 1876 he was Canon of Westminster and Rector of St. Margaret's

He was Archdeacon of Westminster

In 1890 he was Chaplain to the House of Commons

In 1891 he is living at 17 Dean's Yard, St. Margaret and St. John the Evangelist Westminster, London. Rector St. Margaret's Westminster (Clergy), with wife Lucy M. Farrar and son Ivor Granville Farrar.

He was Dean of Canterbury from 1895 to 1903

In 1901 he and wife Lucy were visiting Mr. & Mrs. John Marshall at 59 Nelbeck? Street in St. Marylebone, London. John Marshall was a Pharmacist.

Frederic William Farrar passed away in Canterbury on March 22, 1903.
